1. Do you have a favorite fishing spot on a favorite lake?  How would you like to go to any lake and motor directly to a spot just like it?  Using Lake Scans, you can!  First, find your favorite spot on the lake map, open up the scan and see what is on the bottom there that attracts the fish (a log, a tree, a drop-off, etc.).  Next, open up the lake that you want to go to and use Lake Scans to search the bottom of that lake for the same object/s that makes your favorite fishing spot so good.

2. When viewing a scan, it may help you to know that the survey boat was moving from left to right on the course displayed in a text box near the upper left corner of the screen. The distance covered by the scan is also displayed in a text box below that and, near the bottom of the scan.  The scan originates at the top and the sonar beam moves down toward the bottom.

3. If you are not using a GPS, the compass bearing you are given to an object may be confusing to you if you consider the course of the survey boat used to generate the scan. The reason for this apparent error is because the scan you are viewing is actually a MIRROR image.  Trust us, the compass bearing you are given, is correct.

4. When you are selecting a scan on a Lake map, and the scan you want is very near to or intersects with another scan, move your mouse away from the intersection before trying to make your selection.  If you can't seem to select the desired scan, left click on the SCAN LOCK button in the lower left corner of your display and then, left click on the scan you want. (Verify the desired scan is truely selected by clicking the "CLOSE IMAGE" button and viewing which line segment is highlighted).
